The tenacious 33-year-old Mexican fighter Loopy Godínez aims to remain a contender in the UFC women’s strawweight division when she faces 31-year-old Brazilian Ketlen Souza at UFC Fight Night this Saturday, October 10, in Las Vegas; the bout is part of the event’s main card.

Godínez is one of the most active and experienced Mexican fighters in the division and hopes to return to the win column following a second-round submission loss to American Tatiana Suárez at UFC 327 on April 11.

Godínez is ranked eighth in the strawweight division and holds a record of 14 wins and 6 losses—with one victory by knockout, two by submission, and eleven by decision—while Souza holds a record of 17 wins and 6 losses.

Godínez is highly technical, employing a constant-pressure style and fighting at close to mid-range; she has secured 15 takedowns and two submission victories during her UFC tenure.

Godínez will look to improve her defense during striking exchanges—an area where Souza holds an advantage—while maintaining the pressure and effectiveness needed to go the distance, aiming to wear Souza down and outlast her through superior stamina and technique, all while relying on her strong defense against significant strikes.

Godínez holds the record for the shortest notice in modern UFC history—seven days—having stepped in to replace Sijara Eubanks against Luana Carolina on October 16, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 195.

She is the first woman to win four UFC fights in a single calendar year (2023) and holds the record for the shortest span between three fights in modern UFC history (42 days).
