On Sept. 19, 2006, Magic 103.5 officially hit the airwaves for the first time, launching at 7 a.m. from the Golden West Broadcasting studios in Weyburn.

While Magic 103 began as a classic hits station, with Magic by The Cars serving as the first song ever played, it has since evolved into Weyburn’s local pop station. While the music has changed over the years, one thing has stayed the same: a commitment to the community and having fun with listeners every day.

ZOMG! We’re 20

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Magic 103 is throwing it back to 2006 with a little millennial nostalgia.

Remember when T9 texting was on its way out, and text slang was taking over? One of the biggest expressions of excitement was “ZOMG!”

Throughout October, Magic 103 will be hiding ZOMG! passes around the Opportunity City. When you find one, follow the instructions on the card, then leave it where you found it so someone else can join the fun.

Everyone who finds a pass will be entered for a chance to win four tickets to see Amanda Marshall and Tom Cochrane in Moose Jaw this November.

Here’s to the next two decades

From all of us at Magic 103, thank you for being part of the journey.

Over the past two decades, we’ve shared countless mornings, community events, contests, road trips, laughs, and memorable moments with listeners across Weyburn and southeast Saskatchewan.

We’ve welcomed new voices, given away plenty of prizes, and had a lot of fun along the way. Most importantly, we’ve had the privilege of being part of this community.

Here’s to the next 20 years of making magic happen.
