Smartphone prices have increased significantly in the past few months. Still, with Amazon’s October Prime Day sale underway, two phones from Motorola’s Moto G lineup have dropped into an even more affordable price range. The Moto G Play (2026) is down to $180 on Woot, while the standard Moto G (2026) is available for $255 on Woot. Also, if you apply code WOOTOBER at checkout, you’ll unlock an additional 22% discount on your purchase.

Motorola Moto G (2026)
The Moto G series has always been reliable and easy to recommend to those shopping on a budget. The phones in this lineup don’t go out of their way to shock and awe you, but they don’t cut too many corners either.
Of the two phones, the Moto G should be your first choice. It comes with 128GB of storage, the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip and a capable 50-megapixel main camera. CNET’s David Lumb, who reviewed this phone in December 2025, also liked the phone’s build quality, especially when you bring its price into context.
He also mentioned that you have to consider its 4GB RAM temper your performance expectations. By 2026 standards, it’s definitely on the lower side, but expand it with the RAM Boost feature on the phone and you’ll have more temporary memory (at the cost of some storage capacity) that will improve your daily user experience.
Then we have the Moto G Play. If you choose to buy this device, you’re getting a model that closely resembles the Moto G, but it leaves storage on the table, shipping with 64GB instead of 128GB, and has a 32-megapixel rear main camera compared to the 50-megapixel on the Moto G. But these trade-offs can be worth the $75 savings if you’re not a big camera user and mainly need a phone that you can use for calls and messages.
Alternatives that you might like
Motorola’s devices have always offered a great balance to users, but they tend to drop the ball when it comes to software support. This is where Samsung excels, as it offers up to six years of security updates for its budget phones. The Samsung Galaxy A17, which comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and has the Android 16 update, is also down to $190 on Amazon, making it a reasonable alternative. And don’t forget, this phone is also on our list of best cheap phones for 2026.
