The Warriors‘ reserves and training camp signees got their chance to shine Wednesday night in Portland, but ultimately lost to the Trail Blazers 123-118.

Free-agent signee Dalen Terry stated his case to make the roster with 23 points, playing 43 minutes for Golden State.

The biggest Bay Area star of the night was Oakland native Damian Lillard, who had 15 points playing his first game back with Portland after being traded to Milwaukee in 2023. He re-signed with the Blazers in July 2025 and missed last season with an Achilles injury.

Steph Curry, Draymond Green and much of the team’s rotation did not play, as it was the Warriors’ third game in four days, a rarity in the preseason — particularly considering the first of the group was Sunday in Hawaii. Veterans Al Horford, Brandin Podziemski, Gary Payton II, De’Anthony Melton, Gui Santos and Georges Niang all sat out.

Rookie first-round pick Yaxel Lendeborg also did not play. Green was spotted at Chase Center for the Golden State Valkyries’ playoff win over the Las Vegas Aces.

Malevy Leons, Charles Bassey, Will Richard and Brandon Williams started alongside Terry. Miles Kelly, who signed a non-guaranteed contract last month, led the Warriors with 24 points on six made 3-pointers, while Williams added 17, Richard had 15 and Bassey 13.

Portland played its presumptive starting five with Lillard and Ja Morant, fresh off a trade from Memphis forming the backcourt. Morant had eight points and five assists, while Deni Avdija led the team with 23 points as the only Blazer to top 20 minutes.

The Warriors have three games left in their preseason, including Saturday against Sacramento at Chase Center. They open the regular season Oct. 21 in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
