Three more years. That’s how long the B.C. Firefighters Burn Fund has agreed to partner with Noel Surrey.
The agreement will bring Bright Nights to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds as part of Noel Surrey’s festival of light through the 2028 Christmas season.
The partnership was announced in September at Surrey Firefighters Local 1271 (the former historic Port Kells Fire Hall No. 7) in a kick-off celebration for Noel Surrey 2026.
Todd Schierling, Burn Fund President, said he was “very happy” Bright Nights has a stable home for the next few years.
“Bright Nights has been part of our holiday season for decades,” Schierling said. “Since (the ’80s), it has grown into something that brings thousands of people together every year—all while raising money to support burn survivors.”
He aded that while Bright Nights is about millions of lights, and it’s about the magic and excitement of the Christmas season, at its heart Bright Nights is about community.
“It’s about bringing people together,” he said. “It’s about the teams of professional firefighters, volunteers, nurses showing up spending their off-duty time putting up lights and displays. It’s about creating an opportunity for families to spend time and have fun together.”
Schierling said the whole thing funnels into one cause: directly helping people who need it the most.
He told the Cloverdale Reporter the stability of the agreement means a lot to the Burn Fund as they can now focus their efforts on fundraising and growing Bright Nights.
He encouraged everyone to come down and check out the Cloverdale Fairgrounds this Christmas season.
“You have to see it to believe it,” Schierling noted. “It is a winter wonderland. There’s music, great food, Santa, arts and crafts, and the outdoor, Bright Nights loop is so magical.”
Bright Nights is the largest annual fundraiser for the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
This year, as part of Noel Surrey, a portion of every ticket purchased will go to support the Burn Fund.
Noel Surrey will have more than 1 million lights on display. The Cloverdale Agriplex will again be transformed into Noel Village. There’ll be a Bavarian Plaza, Jack Frost’s Bar, Noel Village Bar, Winter Spice Kitchen, and—along with food trucks—a dining hub and fire pits.
Along with free parking, tickets include: admission to the grounds, Bright Nights, photos will Santa, photos with Green and Grumpy One, meet and greets and singalongs with the Snow Sisters, unlimited Ferris wheel rides, unlimited rides on the Candy Cane Slide (ages 6-12), illuminated playground with LED seesaws and swings, live music and dance performances, face painting, balloon twisting, crafts, and Rudolph’s Ranch Ride-On-Reindeers (ages 2-6).
Noel Surrey will be open from 3 – 9:30 p.m. each day. The festival runs from Nov. 27 to Dec. 29, but will be closed for four days over that period: Nov. 30, Dec. 7, 24, and 25.
Tickets for Noel Surrey cost between $18 and $20 for youth (7-18) and seniors (65+), and between $24 and $27 for adults, service fees (approx. $3 – $4.50 per ticket) and taxes are both extra. Kids 6-and-under are free. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at noelfestival.com.
The Cloverdale Fairgrounds are located at 17905 62nd Avenue in Surrey.
