A “targeted” shooting outside a residential complex in South Surrey has police looking for two men in dark clothing who ran away from the scene.

Surrey Police were called after a report of shots fired outside the complex, in the 100-block of 175A St. not far from the Pacific Highway border crossing, at about 6:51 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Police say two suspects, described as men wearing dark clothes, fled on foot after the shooting. A police search, including assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, didn’t turn up the two, according to a Surrey Police Service press release.

A person believed to be the intended victim was found at the scene uninjured. At this point, there have been no reported injuries and police say it is unknown whether there was any property damage.

SPS investigators and forensic officers are expected to be on scene throughout the night and potentially into tomorrow (Friday) speaking with and canvassing for witnesses and searching for physical and digital evidence.

“There is no indication at this early stage that the incident is extortion related, but it is believed that this was a targeted incident,” the release says.

Anyone with information about this incident, including CCTV and/or dashcam footage, is asked to contact Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-108223 (SP) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
