After a very thrilling women’s competition, which saw a new Canadian land on the podium, practice for the men’s competition continued in Utah. Things got wild.

Thomas Lemoine  – who you may remember from, among other things, his huge send over the entire on-off ramp during Red Bull Joyride in Whister – had already turned heads with his build during dig days. His massive canyon gap, with the extremely committing entry and no-fall span over a vast open space, is the talk of this year’s Rampage.

On Thursday, he hit it for the first time. Just the entry speed into the drop before the canyon gap, after which there is no stopping and no backing out, is terrifying. That’s before Lemoine launches across the void.

Lemoine didn’t ride it out in practice on Friday. He slammed hard going off line on the extremely narrow run-out. But he was back on his feet quickly and walking around. So hopefully he’s all good for finals.

Anyway, here’s a couple angles of this truly gnarly send. What a wild man.

And one looking back up from the landing. Slow motion doesn’t make the crash look … better.

And another from the top:
