The Short Story: A pair of 6-1 victories for junior Elim Yan kept UC Davis women’s tennis alive during day two of the ITA Regionals on Friday, Oct. 9.
COURTSIDE
The victory for Yan was her sixth of the season, going back to the Central Valley Clash.
Delilah Rizvi was also able to take a set in her singles debut, pushing her opponent to three sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Opening the day in doubles, all three pairs for the Aggies fell to their opponents, with the duo of Aileena Hu and Lyla Van Loben Sels pushing their opponents from Saint Mary’s to the brink.
After seeing Ramey Yu fall in her singles match, Yan was able to dispatch Abi Anderson of Portland, winning both sets 6-1.
Down a set after dropping the first 2-6, Rizvi battled back in the second with a 6-1 win. The third set was a battle all throughout, but Andi Anderson from Fresno State pulled out the win with a 6-4 victory.
