Several LIV Golf stars are reportedly in talks with the DP World Tour over a possible exit from the Saudi-backed league ahead of the 2027 season. According to a report by Today’s Golfer, the tour is ready to offer tournament invites to players who reject the new terms for LIV Golf 2.0. The proposed deals could help several names secure a place on the DP World Tour next year. This comes as LIV Golf faces an uncertain future after the Saudi Public Investment Fund withdrew its multi-billion-dollar support.
“Given the high volume of inbound interest and enquiries we have received in recent weeks, we are exploring the terms on which we are willing to accommodate players provided they are free from third party contractual restrictions and are willing to abide by our membership regulations. Our Tournament Committee has approved the process we intend to follow and we expect further enquiries in the days ahead,” a spokesperson from DP World Tour told Today’s Golfer on Friday, October 9.
The talks also come at a crucial time for LIV Golf, which has until October 25 to secure player commitments for its proposed relaunch. Jon Rahm and David Puig have already moved toward exits, while Joaquin Niemann could also benefit from the DP World Tour’s offer.
Players without tour status may receive invites to a set number of events, based on their profile and the tour’s available spots. However, these deals would not grant them immediate access to the five Rolex Series events.
Sergio Garcia Eyes DP World Tour Return After LIV Golf Exit

Sergio Garcia has officially ended his contract with LIV Golf after a legal move amid the league’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. The 46-year-old Spaniard received court approval to terminate his deal through a formal notice. His legal team argued that the active contract created uncertainty for sponsors, tournament organizers and business partners.
LIV Golf did not oppose the request, as Garcia’s original deal did not fit the league’s proposed LIV 2.0 model. His exit adds to the pressure on the league as it seeks to retain players ahead of its planned relaunch.

Garcia now has more freedom to decide his schedule for the 2027 season. The DP World Tour has made it clear that players must be free from conflicting contracts to secure opportunities on its circuit. Garcia could now focus on a return to the European tour as he seeks a place on Europe’s 2027 Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor.
He has also left the door open to other options, including a possible PGA Tour return or a future move to the PGA Tour Champions circuit. Garcia has not ruled out a fresh deal with LIV Golf if the terms of its proposed new model suit him.

Adrian Meronk has reportedly decided not to extend his LIV Golf contract, adding to the league’s growing list of potential departures ahead of its proposed LIV 2.0 relaunch. The 33-year-old Polish golfer made headlines after his two-shot win at the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews. According to reports, Meronk has no intention of acceptinÉ¡ the league’s proposed new terms or take part in its player-equity model.
LIV Golf also faces financial uncertainty after the Saudi Public Investment Fund withdrew its support and the league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Court documents reportedly show that Meronk is owed about $4.44 million in unpaid earnings.
“I will be a member of the DP World Tour. I won’t sign a contract or receive a guaranteed sum; I’ll have to play for prize money in individual tournaments. Even so, this is far better than the situation I was facing until recently,” Meronk told WP SportoweFakty on Thursday, October 8.

Meronk now has a strong path back to the DP World Tour for the 2027 season. His Dunhill Links victory marked his fifth career title on the European circuit and secured his playing rights through the 2028 season. That success gives him a clear option as he plans his next steps outside LIV Golf. A return to full-time play in Europe could help him build his case for a place on the 2027 Ryder Cup team. His reported decision comes as LIV Golf faces an October 25 deadline to secure player commitments for its proposed relaunch.
