Going into the second period on Friday in Kent, Vancouver Giants were behind Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1.
Then, a three-goal second period put Vancouver ahead, on the way to a 6-3 win.
Seattle opened the scoring on a power play after a missed shot banked off the end boards.
Just over five minutes later, Jakob Oreskovic sprung Joe Iginla for a breakaway, where he deked goaltender Grayson Malinoski and slid the puck past his outstretched pad.
Seattle responded with another power play goal late in the period, giving them a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Early in the second period, Brogan McNeil got his first in a Giants uniform.
Then late in the period, McNeil beat Malinoski for the second time.
The Giants weren’t done there, scoring with just 11.2 seconds left in the second period when they converted on the power play thanks to Kaleb Hartmann, who gave the visitors’ a 4-2 advantage.
Vancouver extended the lead to three goals when Mathis Preston got a pass off the skate of Oreskovic for his third goal of the season.
Seattle cut back into the lead thanks to Kosick off an odd-man rush, but Iginla put the game to bed with his second of the night at the 13:12 mark of the third period.
Vancouver improves to 3-2-1-1 with the road victory, while Seattle is now 2-2-0-0.
Both teams will duel in the rematch at Langley Events Centre tonight at 7 p.m.
Next Tuesday, they will play each other for the third time in a row, back in Kent.
