Brits were second seeds in the ATP Challenger

GRODZISK MAZOWIECKI, POLAND – Joshua Paris & Marcus Willis entered the ATP Challenger event and were the second seeds. The Brits made the semi-final before being defeated.

 

 

Joshua Paris and Marcus Willis entered the ATP Challenger event in Poland and were the second seeds. In the first round the Brits were against Radu Albot & Jie Cui. The seeds had to fight hard in the first set as Albot & Cui stayed close. Eventually, the Brit broke serve and took the lead. The second set was dominated by the seeds who eased through into the next round 6-4, 6-1.

The quarter-final saw the Brits against Szymon Kielan & Filip Pieczonka. The Poles, who had the home crowd behind them, forced a tiebreak in the first set. The Brits eased through and took the lead. The second set saw the Brits dominate and move into the next round 7-6(4), 6-2.

In the semi-final the Brits were against the fourth seeds Nam Ji Sung & Takaru Yuzuki. The fourth seeds managed to break serve in the first set and get the lead. The second set, saw the Brits fight back. Staying close to Nam & Yuzuki it looked to be heading to a tiebreak. However, the Brits broke right at the end to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw the fourth seeds edge through and take the win 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

David Stevenson with Matej Vocel were defeated by Thijmen Loof & Arthur Reymond in the first round in Grodzisk Mazowiecki 6-4, 7-5.

Anton Matusevich with Gerard Campana Lee were defeated by Tim Ruehl & Patrick Zahraj in the semi-final in Bonn 6-7(7), 6-1, 10-7.

Jay Clarke & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Mario Mansilla Diez & Bruno Pujol Navarro in the quarter-final in Cordenons 6-4, 6-2.

Nicolas Philibert with David Petrovic were defeated by Maxence Bertimon & Etienne Donnet in the quarter-final in Monastir 6-4, 6-2.

Felix Mischker with Parth Aggarwal were defeated by Shaheed Alam & Bill Chan in the first round in Singapore 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

Jeremy Gschwendtner with Alessandro Spadola were defeated by Dragos Cazacu & Alexandru Dumitru in the final in Curtea de Arges 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Katie Swan with Olivia Berardi were defeated by DJ Bennett & Ava Hrastar in the first round in Southaven 6-3, 6-4.

Freya Christie with Anita Wagner were defeated by Kristina Novak & Ivana Sebestova in the first round in Amstetten 6-3, 6-3.
