After quitting LIV, Jon Rahm has made his next move as he plans for the 2027 season…
Jon Rahm has announced his first start since declaring he has quit LIV Golf.
Last week, it was revealed in LIV’s bankruptcy courts that Rahm would not be signing up to the post-Saudi version of the breakaway league.
“Mr. Rahm has independently reviewed the proposed terms of LIV 2.0… and has determined that those terms are unacceptable to him, and he will not be participating going forward in LIV 2.0,” said the Spaniard’s attorney, John Beck.
Rahm will tee it up next month in the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship – which will, somewhat peculiarly, be his first start in the DP World Tour Playoffs event.
The two-time major champion has won the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai on three occasions, but has never played in the Abu Dhabi precursor.
“I’ve had some of the best weeks of my career in the UAE, so I’m really looking forward to playing in Abu Dhabi for the first time,” Rahm said in a press release.
“I’ve heard great things about Yas Links, and I’m looking forward to playing there. It’ll be great to get started in Abu Dhabi before heading to Dubai the following week.”
Rahm agreed a deal with the DP World Tour earlier this season which stipulated he had to play an additional number of events to avoid being punished for breaking conflicting events rules on LIV Golf.
He will therefore play in Abu Dhabi and, providing he advances through, Tour Championship at Jumeirah Estates the following week as he secures his membership for the 2027 season.
Rahm is currently 46th in the Race to Dubai rankings and the top 50 make it to the $10 million finale. He missed the Open de Espana last week as he and his wife Kelley are expecting a fourth child.
