Traffic disruptions reduced along Langley SkyTrain route

There are no new traffic pattern changes expected in Langley for the week of Oct. 12-18, at least not related to the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project.
The project’s weekly update shows a number of upcoming changes in Surrey along Fraser Highway near Langley, including temporary restrictions of access to Fraser Highway from 68 Avenue on several days in October and November.
However, Langley has seen relatively few changes in recent weeks.
Ongoing restrictions include the complete closure of the lane running east from the Langley Bypass to Production Way. The lane has been shut for some time and is where some of the final pillars for the SkyTrain guideway are being completed.
Also in place for some time is the one-way traffic on Industrial Avenue. Traffic can only move west to east, from 200 Street to 203 Street.
The project has passed several major milestones over the summer and in early fall, including completing more than 65 per cent of the guideway.
For Langley, a major milestone was the arrival of the Langley Launcher, a massive gantry that is used to haul the pre-cast segments of the guideway off the ground and into position to be joined together. One of four launching gantries, it is the only one heading west to east, and began work at the site of the future 184 Street Station.
The Langley Launcher crossed the Surrey-Langley border in September, and is now heading towards the Willowbrook SkyTrain Station and Langley City SkyTrain Station, located at 203 and Industrial Avenue.
The project, recently renamed the Dave Barrett Extension, isn’t expected to open until late 2029, but the guideway will be complete long before that. Completing the eight new stations and building the track, power systems, and road and pedestrian upgrades around the stations, will continue for some time.
