A woman was arrested after she pulled up a handgun on a taxi driver, Winnipeg police say.
Officers responded to reports of an armed person near the intersection of Concordia Avenue and Louelda Street at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, police said in a release Monday.
The woman had produced a handgun after entering a taxi in the area, directing the driver to go to a specific location, the release said.
The driver activated his emergency beacon, left the vehicle and contacted police, it said.
Winnipeg police said the woman moved into the driver’s seat, but the keys had been removed. Police took her into custody nearby after she tried to flee on foot, they said.
A 45-year-old woman is facing multiple firearm-related charges, including charges related to possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition orders, and carrying a concealed weapon.
She remained in custody.
