SuperSport, Africa sports broadcaster and African KnockOut (AKO) are partnering to promote and broaden acceptance level of combat sports across Africa.

The partnership seek to enhance fan engagement for mixed martial arts (MMA), expand storytelling opportunities, and create dynamic platforms for brand activation for MMA on the continent.

Usman, who is Africa’s first UFC world champion, said AKO has grown into a significant platform that showcases elite African MMA talent from over 21 countries. “This partnership isn’t just about building a platform — it’s about unlocking the full potential of African MMA.”

Under the partnership, SuperSport will serve as the exclusive linear broadcaster across Sub-Saharan Africa, positions AKO to reach broader audiences and become a key offering within SuperSport’s diverse sports portfolio.

This strategic alliance will see SuperSport and AKO collaborate to deliver a dynamic broadcast experience, encompassing:

Rendani Ramovha, CEO, SuperSport, said live fight nights, compelling feature content, and episodic storytelling centred on AKO athletes will feature on SuperSport. Also, territorial fight card design aimed at engaging local fan bases across SuperSport’s key African markets.
