Angel Reese is in the WNBA Finals with the Atlanta Dream this season, and one league legend has given her props for her versatile skillset.

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are in the WNBA Finals now, but her career until now has been far from a fairytale. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Chicago Sky but stuck on a losing team for the first two seasons. As she was expected to be a difference-maker, a lot of blame and ridicule was aimed her way for it.

One of the big criticisms of Reese has been her inefficiency despite playing close to the basket. A lack of prolific scoring has also been discussed as a problem. A former WNBA MVP has come to her defence, though, and explained why her impact goes well beyond whatever points she gets.

Tina Charles explains that Angel Reese’s ā€˜relentless’ nature has a snowball effect on her team

Even though the rest of her game has taken some time to develop, Reese has been an excellent rebounder since she walked into the league. This season, Angel was named Defensive Player of the Year, too. Her scoring has also picked up, but Tina Charles pointed out a different way she impacts the team.

Reese has a powerful personality, it is what has made her such a force in college and as a professional. Charles pointed to that while discussing the Atlanta star.

Heading into the WNBA Finals, Tina Charles says Angel Reese is EXACTLY the type of player you want on your team. šŸ”„

ā€œYeah, she’s just fearless,ā€ Charles said. ā€œAnd that’s exactly what you want, especially from your inside presence. That’s exactly what you want. Someone who is going to impose their will, someone who’s just going to keep coming at you. It doesn’t even matter if she’s scoring the basketball or not.

ā€œYou’re going to feel her, and it’s just a snowball effect to everybody else. Getting up in Sabrina’s face like, ā€˜You’re not going to mess with my teammates. This is what you’re going to get every single time you try one of us.’ Like, that’s exactly what you want going into the Finals. So I’m very excited, I’m very happy for her.ā€

This is high praise for Reese, and it is well deserved as well. Sports can be cruel at times, but one thing has always been true for any athlete. Once someone becomes a champion, there’s nothing anyone can say to you anymore. Angel has a chance to do just that in just her third WNBA season.
