Police have charged a man with two counts of attempted murder as they investigate a Mississauga road rage incident in which two men were attacked and stabbed in a parking lot.

Peel Regional Police said the violent confrontation unfolded at around 5 p.m. on Aug. 29, a Saturday, in a parking lot near Dundas Street West and Parkerhill Road, a couple of blocks east of Mavis Road.

“Investigators determined that a road rage incident in a parking lot escalated into a confrontation between the occupants of two vehicles, resulting in two individuals being stabbed,” police said, adding both victims were transported to hospital with serious injuries. They were later reported to be in stable condition.

Shortly after the incident, uniformed officers located and arrested one suspect, police added. He was charged with one count of assault.

Continuing their probe, detectives with the Peel police 11 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau subsequently arrested and charged a second man in connection with the stabbing investigation.

Isaiah Myles, 26, of Mississauga, was arrested on Oct. 1, according to police. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Ali Halimi, 30, also of Mississauga, who was arrested in August, is charged with assault.

Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah said the latest arrest is “another important step” in the ongoing investigation.

“Our members remain committed to pursuing every investigative lead and ensuring those responsible for violent and senseless crimes like this are held accountable,” he added in a news release on Wednesday.
