The Ensemble Montréal majority in Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce has suspended the approval process for a high-density apartment complex in the Triangle neighbourhood after three years of negotiation between the borough and project promoter Groupe Mach, saying it wants to better plan the area’s development.
The decision to put the project at 4280 de la Savane St. on ice, which was communicated by borough mayor Stephanie Valenzuela to Groupe Mach in September, has drawn outrage from the developer and the Projet Montréal opposition, and gratitude from residents who say the Triangle is overbuilt and deprived of basic services.
In a written statement, Valenzuela said her administration’s goal “is to establish a coherent vision that better meets families’ needs and improves residents’ quality of life.”
