This weekend, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues golf teams head to the nation’s capital where they will compete at the 2026 OUA Golf Championships.

Hosted by the University of Ottawa from Oct. 16-18 at Hylands Golf Club, the provincial showcase will welcome participants from 15 institutions to crown both individual and team champions.

Entering the tournament as the defending women’s champion, third-year commerce major Mia Wong has continued to top the leaderboards. Wong has finished first overall at three different invitationals already this fall, winning the Guelph Fall Kickoff, Brock Invitational, and Waterloo Invitational. Combined with the consistent play of fellow Varsity Blues veteran Mia Sung and the combination of several first-year additions to the lineup, the U of T women have stepped on the team podium at all five invitational events they have competed in this fall, including overall team gold at Guelph and Waterloo.

For the men, a team silver at the Laurier-Waterloo Invitational and Top 5 finish at the Brock Invitational provide plenty of optimism for an improvement on the 11th place showing a season ago. Ben MacLean has been a key piece to the Blues elevated results this fall, while veterans Jordan Hutchings and Mac Andrekson provide steady play in the pursuit of team success.

The U of T women last claimed the provincial banner in 2024, while the Varsity Blues men’s last title came in 2008.

Following a practice round on Friday (Oct. 16), all competitors will tee-off for the two-day championship beginning early Saturday (Oct. 17) morning. More championship details are available at oua.ca.
