Job seekers with security experience will have an opportunity to connect with a major security company at a hiring fair in Mississauga next week, with full-time and part-time positions available across the GTA.

Allied Universal is hosting the job fair on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its office at 5580 Explorer Drive, Suite 300, in Mississauga.

The company is recruiting security guards for several types of assignments, including shopping malls, shelters, corporate offices and distribution centres.

Available positions include full-time, permanent mall security jobs in Etobicoke, shelter security positions in Mississauga, corporate security work in downtown Toronto and opportunities at a distribution centre in Woodbridge. Part-time positions are also available in North York and Scarborough.

The requirements vary by position. Applicants interested in shelter security in Mississauga must have at least six months of experience working in a shelter, hospital or other high-risk environment. Mall security positions require a valid Ontario G-class driver’s licence, previous retail or mall security experience and a minimum age of 25 to meet site insurance requirements.

Applicants must hold a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence and be legally eligible to work in Canada. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, while First Aid and CPR certification are considered an asset. Successful applicants must also complete the required background check.

Those attending the hiring fair are asked to bring an updated resume and their valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.

For newcomers to Canada and other job seekers interested in the security industry, the licensing requirement is an important consideration. The event is aimed at people who already hold the required Ontario licence, rather than those who have yet to complete the licensing process.

The positions offer different work schedules and environments, depending on the assignment. Applicants should review the requirements carefully, particularly for roles that require previous experience or a vehicle to reach the worksite.
