EDMONTON, AB – Luckily, we’ll see them again soon.
The Edmonton Oilers had their five-game win streak snapped on Thursday, suffering their first regulation defeat of the season with a 4-2 defeat at Rogers Place to the Utah Mammoth in the first of a home-and-away series against the Central Division club.
Leon Draisaitl scored his fifth goal of the season, and Shakir Mukhamadullin notched his first goal in Blue & Orange, but the Oilers never caught up to the Mammoth, who received a pair of goals from Clayton Keller and two points apiece from Nick Schmaltz and Logan Cooley in their victory.
Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard both extended their respective point streaks to seven and four games with assists in a losing effort, while goalie Devon Levi made 21 saves on 24 shots in his first defeat as a member of the Oilers.
Edmonton will hit the road to rematch Utah on Saturday.
