A Newton street will be closed to traffic Saturday, Oct. 24 for Spooktacular Newton, hyped as Surrey’s only free, family-friendly Halloween street festival.

On 137 Street between 72A and 74 avenues, the event runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a pumpkin patch, trick-or-treating, mini golf, haunted train rides, kid fun zone, face painting, food trucks, bouncy castles, games and more.

“Spooktacular Newton has something for everyone,” says the Newton BIA website. “Don’t miss the special dance performances by City Entertainment.

Urban Pumpkin Patch donations benefit Surrey Food Bank, both cash and non-perishables.

A rain-or-shine event held annually, Spooktacular Newton is a car-free gathering with limited parking nearby.

Last year’s event attracted goblins, fairies, ghosts and other creatures for an afternoon of Halloween fun.
