Award-winning Winnipeg Christian author Paul Boge is asking for prayer as his wife battles cancer, shortly after the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

“Katrina and I are currently at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg,” says Boge. “She and I were engaged in May of last year. We were married three months later in August, and three months later in December, my precious wife was diagnosed with leukemia.”

To say it’s been a hard first year of marriage for the couple would be an understatement.

“For the past 10 and a half months, we’ve had medical care here in Winnipeg and Toronto, and nothing has provided lasting results.”

Prayer meeting for healing for Katrina

Boge is hosting a prayer meeting on Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. They are asking people to attend to pray for the miracle of healing for Katrina.

“Please pray for Jesus to provide a miraculous healing for me,” says Katrina from her hospital bed. “Everyone is invited to a special healing prayer meeting this Saturday. I love you. Thank you for praying.”

Boge, who hasn’t left his wife’s bedside throughout this ordeal, is asking people to pray for his wife, whether they can make it out to the meeting or not.

“We arrived back in Winnipeg last week after coming back from Toronto,” says Boge. “We were very disappointed to learn that her cancer had returned. She’s had some infections that have come into her leg and into her brain, so we’re praying for a miracle for healing for that.”

Katrina is hoping to have another round of chemo. However, they are also praying for a miracle of complete healing.

Love, support, and prayers

“We’re very blessed,” says Boge. “We have many family, friends, pastors, and people that have been praying for us. It’s so encouraging the incredible depth of the Christian community, in Winnipeg, across Canada, the United States, people are praying in Kenya with Mulli Children’s Family (MCF), people are praying in Nepal, in India, all around the world. We’re very touched and encouraged.”

Boge says that the family and friends who drop off food to the hospital is a wonderful blessing during this time.

“Prayer is desperately needed. Being in a desperate situation like this, we’re thankful for the body of Christ around the world that’s praying.”

The couple appreciates any and all prayers over her health, and their situation. Anyone who can’t attend the prayer meeting in person can view it live stream here.

“I want to encourage people to continue to stand on the word of God. To continue to work together in prayer with friends and family for Katrina’s healing, and for your own healing. Our God is still a God who works miracles. Let’s be encouraged to stay faithful in prayer. Prayer is a battle.”
