Peel Regional Police say the incidents occurred overnight over the past two months, primarily in downtown Brampton and around Queen Street East and Kennedy Road. Restaurants, retail stores and other commercial establishments were targeted, with suspects allegedly smashing glass doors or windows with rocks or bricks to access cash registers and safes. Several businesses sustained significant damage.
On September 24, officers arrested Shane Jason Elliot at Brampton GO Station at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Elliot faces 13 counts of Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence and four counts of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence.
Police say video surveillance helped identify the accused and link him to the incidents. Investigators are asking anyone with information or relevant video footage to contact Peel Regional Police at 905-453-2121, ext. 2121.
