As 32″ tires gain traction, Continental Tires is joining the party.
The German company, founded way back ini 1871. is expanding into 32-inch tires with its Dubnital tire. Given the brand’s century+ history, this might not be the largest bicycle tire the brand’s made. 32″‘s big, but not quite penny farthing territory yet.
Continental Dubnital goes big
Dubnital is a logical first step for Conti as it can pull double duty as a gravel or cross country tire. Continental describes it as a “fast-rolling all-rounder.”
“By scaling its tread design to the larger dimension,” Conti’s PR says, “The new tire maximizes momentum retention, improves obstacle rollover, and increases overall traction and stability.”
The bigger Dubnital will be available in Continentals Race Casing and fast-rolling “Rapid” compound to start.
“The growing interest in 32” wheels is clear, and our priority is ensuring riders have immediate access to Continental’s flagship tire technologies as new wheel sizes emerge. Choosing the Dubnital as our first 32” release allows us to support evolving setup preferences and frame designs right out of the gate,” says Alexander Haenke, Product Manager for mountain bikes and gravel at Continental Tires. “As frame geometry and rider demands shift, we’re dedicated to building out specialized tire options that allow riders to get the absolute most out of this new, and increasingly upcoming format.”
Continenetal says the 32″ Dubnital Race Rapid will be available globally starting around April 2027.
No word on when the brand will expand the line to 30.5″ wheels…
