Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say an eastern Ontario hunting excursion by three people from Sudbury last week ended in one of them shooting the two others, one of them fatally.
OPP said Tuesday the trio were in a field in Alfred and Plantagenet around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when one of their firearms went off, hitting the other two.
A 27-year-old woman from Sudbury was pronounced dead at the scene and a 28-year-old man from Sudbury was seriously injured.
A different 28-year-old man from the northern Ontario city is facing four charges, police say: criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, careless use of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Further details were not available, including the name of the person who died. OPP said their investigation continues.
