Jamie Lowery is a super bright, intelligent, hard working, problem solving ‘penny pincher’ consultative and inclusive leader.

Honest, diligent, Jamie is a solid leader and best choice for Mayor of the City of North Bay.

It was confounding to read the remarks of a former North Bay CAO, who should know what they read in media and the facts are often two different things.

His letter mentioned the Rose Theatre in Brampton, as being evidence of Jamie Lowery’s mismanagement. I was shocked to read these words! Factually, Jamie tackled the issue and restored the Rose Theatre financial performance in one year. The Rose Theatre Brampton is a stunning Performing Arts Centre in Downtown Brampton. It was built on time and on budget, completely paid for…no debt. Early financial analysis following the opening season, yielded questionable results. Jamie was tasked to figure it out and restore the theatre to the positive rate-of-return displayed in the council decision to build it. Jamie was NOT responsible for the problem., Jamie didn’t cause the issues.

In proper business diligence, Jamie requested a full audit to ‘know where the issues were.’ It is admirable and smart to establish the baseline before ‘guessing’ what the problem is. That report came to council. The base report.

Jamie Lowery took action and solved the issues.

Smart leaders spend wisely. They don’t throw money at a problem ‘hoping for the best,’ they are measured, do full analysis and homework, and choose the path to success. That in a nutshell, is Jamie Lowery.

Why would I endorse Jamie Lowery in a North Bay election? Two reasons:

Jamie Lowery is the best person for the job of mayor. He is smart, honest, measured, inclusive, a true community leader. People matter to Jamie. I’m proud to also know Jamie and Sandra as friends to this day.

My husband and I are no strangers to North Bay! Our family roots go back decades, with many family still residing there. (The Fennell family plot is in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, North Bay)

Now, regarding the extra words of the former North Bay CAO, including my name in his letter, I shall only respond to update his misguided and out of date information.

Janet Leiper, a well respected municipal integrity expert, former Integrity Commissioner of the City of Toronto and now Superior Court Judge, was appointed by the City of Brampton to review the Forensic Audit done by Deloitte. Deloitte’s audit was found to be incomplete and inaccurate, and Leiper debunked their conclusions in her “Leiper Report” to council in 2014.

As Brampton’s longest serving Mayor, I was very proud to subsequently receive a public apology, and the current Mayor and Council have named a major Recreation Complex The Susan Fennell Sportsplex.

Facts matter. Truth matters.
