Drivers could run into congestion at a busy Brampton intersection this week due to overnight sewer construction.
Peel Public Works says Kennedy Road will be reduced down to two lanes of traffic at Queen Street starting on Monday evening.
The lane closures are for storm sewer replacement work in the area, and will last until overnight on Friday, Peel Public Works says.
Crews will work to excavate the existing storm sewer pipe and install a new pipe to improve drainage and extend the life of the system. Construction will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 7a.m., the region says.
“These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is occurring in your area,” Peel Public Works says.
Peel Regional Police officers will be on site to direct traffic while the closures are in place.
Drivers and pedestrians in the area are being urged to take precautions.
“Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area,” Peel Public Works says. “Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes.”
