One person is dead after a single-vehicle collision in rural east Ottawa on Wednesday evening, according to a spokesperson for the Ottawa Paramedic Service.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Devine Road between Sand Road and Frank Kenny Road at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, the Ottawa Police Service wrote in a statement.

One vehicle left the road and hit a pole and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics told CBC News.
