Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Ka’Deem Carey was forced to leave Saturday’s game against the B.C. Lions with a lower-body injury.

Carey was hit as he was running with the ball midway through the third quarter and took a hit from Lions defender Micah Awe, grabbing his right knee immediately. Players from both teams called for the training staff to provide medical assistance for Carey.

The medical cart came off the field, but Carey was instead helped off the field by the Roughriders’ training staff.

In his fourth game with Saskatchewan, the 23-year-old had four carries for 12 yards before being forced to leave.

Carey was cut by the Toronto Argonauts at the end of training camp before deciding to join the Roughriders’ practice roster.

In six seasons in the CFL, Carey has won two Grey Cup titles and is a three-time Divisional All-Star, while rushing for 3,956 yards and 26 touchdowns in 64 career games.
