A south London mall that recently welcomed Ikea is preparing for the arrival of even more businesses, a new hotel, and a rejigged bus bay to support bus rapid transit.
Gathering on the future site of the new bus terminal at the southeast entrance of White Oaks Mall, politicians joined officials with Westdell Development Corp., which owns the shopping centre, to make the slew of announcements.
Politicians were particularly interested in buses continuing to serve the mall directly and turn around on-site rather than stay solely in the centre-running BRT lanes on Wellington Road and turning around via Holiday Avenue and Exeter Road — something expected to save London Transit $1 million annually in operating costs.
