Formula 2 runner-up in 2025, and Aston Martin reserve driver this season, Jak Crawford is preparing to take part in another Free Practice session this year.

While Audi is placing its trust in reigning F3 runner- up Freddie Slater for Free Practice 1 in Mexico City and São Paulo, Aston Martin has also announced that it will replace Lance Stroll in FP1 in the Mexican capital. A year after his Formula 1 debut , American Jak Crawford will indeed be back in Lance Stroll’s car , having already completed three similar sessions this season.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the AMR26 in Mexico City. It’s a special circuit for me, as it’s where I made my debut in the first free practice session last year; so it’s fantastic to return with more experience,” said the former DAMS driver . “I’ve learned a lot, both on track and in the simulator this season, and I’m eager to put that knowledge into practice. It’s also symbolic to announce this during my home Grand Prix weekend in Austin. As always, the goal will be to make the most of the session and provide useful feedback to the team.”

Not far behind Leonardo Fornaroli before the Italian’s title win at Losail last year, Jak Crawford nevertheless finds himself in a delicate situation. While race opportunities aren’t plentiful in F1 at the end of this year, it seems the density of talent within the next generation leaves few spots for drivers from previous F2 seasons . This exposure could, in fact, represent a great opportunity for Jak Crawford, who is still seeking clarity about his future on the track.
