CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga women’s soccer team battled UNC Greensboro to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Finley Stadium on Senior Night. The Mocs, decked out in their pink kits for breast cancer awareness, move to 8-3-5 overall and 4-2-2 in Southern Conference action while the Sparts finished the night at 7-5-4 on the year and 3-2-3 in SoCon play.

Chattanooga struck first on Paige Thomas’ ninth goal of the season in the seventh minute. EG Dillard saved the ball off the end line down the left side and eluded her defender to find Thomas moving toward the goal inside the box for the score.

It didn’t take long, however, for the Spartans to answer back, scoring the equalizer in the 12th minute. That score remained throughout the game.

The Mocs were outshot 9-3 in the opening frame and keeper Addie Taylor made all six of her stops in the first half. However, the second half saw the Mocs as the aggressors, outshooting UNC Greensboro 8-3. UTC placed four shots on frame in the latter half.

In the final minutes, Thomas and Dillard each had close calls, but the Spartans keeper held off the attack with two of her four saves on the second half.

Thomas led Chattanooga with four shots and the lone goal, while Dillard added the assist. Emma Reeves, Quinn Johnson and Reese Wilson each contributed scoring opportunities as the Mocs searched for a second-half breakthrough.
