MISSOULA, Mont. – Baylor soccer snapped Montana’s unbeaten streak at South Campus Stadium on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory, handing the Grizzlies their first loss at home since 2023 in 18 matches.
 
The Bears (1-0-2) netted both goals in the first half of play against Montana (1-1-1), as Hallie Augustyn and Alysiah Lockette powered BU to its first win of the season.
 
Senior goalkeeper Azul Alvarez needed just four saves to record her eighth complete-game shutout. Over two matches in Missoula, the senior finished with six saves and did not allow a goal.
 
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor’s first chance came in the fifth minute when Theresa McCullough nearly converted a cross from Lauren Omholt, but Montana’s keeper, Ashlyn Dvorak, came up with the stop.
 
The Bears struck first in the eighth minute off their opening corner kick. Tyler Isgrig delivered the service to Hallie Augustyn, who buried the ball for her first goal of the season. Just seven minutes later, Callie Conrad found McCullough for a finish, but play was called offside.
 
BU doubled its lead before halftime when Lockette netted her first career goal in the 44th minute. The score came off a pair of rebounds, first Hallie Augustyn’s shot off the crossbar, then a saved attempt by Kai Hayes before Lockette slotted it home.
 
The second half slowed after a combined 18 shots in the opening 45 minutes. Baylor managed three more attempts, while holding Montana to five.
 
The Grizzlies’ best chance came in the 69th minute, but first-year Bear Angelina Moschetti made the stop.
 
HIGHLIGHTS


Baylor snapped Montana’s home match undefeated streak after 18 results without a loss for from South Campus Stadium in Missoula, a record that dated back to the 2023 season that ended in a 5-0-0 run at home.
BU held Montana to two shots on goal in the first half.
After a four-goal season in 2024, Hallie Augustyn netted her first goal of the season in the eighth minute.
Alysiah Lockette recorded her first career goal in her 24th appearance, marking a new career-best in points.
Azul Alvarez now has eight complete-game shutouts, with two straight coming from the road trip to Montana.
Natalie Vatter, Kai Hayes, Tyler Isgrig and Hallie Augustyn each played all 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon.
The 2-0 win is the largest margin of victory for Baylor since a 4-0 defeat of Arizona State in Waco on October 10, 2024.
