Incumbent NDP MLA Bowinn Ma claims 46 per cent of the vote as her party goes from a majority to opposition status

Bowinn Ma has been re-elected as MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale, earning fourth term in office.

With all ballot boxes counted, Ma finished with 10,221 votes (or 46.92 per cent). The Conservative Party of B.C.’s Trevor Withers finished with 9,044 votes (41.52 per cent), while BC Green Party’s Joshua A Singer Johnson raked in 2,477 votes (11.37 per cent).

Ma watched the results come in from BC NDP watch party at the Marriot Pinnacle Hotel in downtown Vancouver Saturday night with supporters and other NDP candidates.

It was a tight race between Ma and challenger Withers as ballots were counted Saturday night.

Ma has been the MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale since 2017, serving as Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness and, in her most recent term, Minister of Infrastructure.
