The Quebec Liberal Party says it will challenge the Parti Québécois’s three-vote victory in Vachon in court, arguing that ballots were wrongly rejected during a judicial recount because of minor pencil marks.

Liberal candidate Affine Lwalalika announced Monday in a Facebook post that the party had consulted its lawyers and intends to file a legal challenge, five days after the recount overturned her initial 10-vote lead.

The announcement goes a step further than the party’s position last week, when it said it would not concede victory and that its lawyers were reviewing available legal options.
