Kosher Playa Bowls locations serve açaí bowls, smoothies and other fruit-based dishes, with certification handled branch by branch. The tables below bring together addresses and named supervision, including location-specific dairy and topping restrictions.
Playa Bowls began in Belmar, NJ. Its menu has expanded beyond açaí to pitaya, coconut, mango and green bowls, plus oatmeal, juices and cold brew. A shop carrying the Playa Bowls name does not automatically share another branch’s kosher certification.

What Is on the Playa Bowls Menu?
The Playa Bowls menu centers on customizable bowls. The 8th Ave pairs an açaí base with granola, banana and honey. Pura Vida adds strawberries, blueberries and honey over açaí and granola. Fresh strawberries are excluded from NKS supervision, so that bowl requires a substitution at NKS branches. At the three JSOR-supervised branches, strawberries are checked daily by certified mashgichim.
Other bases include pitaya, coconut, banana, mango and a green blend of kale, banana, pineapple and coconut milk. Smoothies and juices are sold alongside the bowls. Dairy additions include Nutella, white chocolate, sweet cream and whey protein; the exact dairy or dairy-equipment status depends on the location’s certificate. A plant-based ingredient list does not by itself establish pareve status.

Certification and Menu Restrictions
National Kosher Supervision (NKS), Rabbi Aaron Mehlman, excludes fresh strawberries from its supervision. Frozen strawberries are covered separately from fresh toppings. NKS supervision includes Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Terminal A, and Oceanside. Dairy designations, permitted toppings and other restrictions vary by branch; the current store certificate sets the scope. Some Manhattan branches have limited supervision.
The three Jersey Shore Orthodox Rabbinate (JSOR) branches are not chalav Yisrael. Nutella, chocolate toppings and whey are dairy; coffee and smoothies are dairy or dairy equipment. They are not yashan and are certified year-round except Passover.
The STAR-D certificate for Quarry Lake, Baltimore is valid through September 30, 2027. The facility is dairy, non-chalav Yisrael. Other items may be dairy equipment, and granola and oatmeal are not yoshon. The UPenn and Wynnewood branches are kosher dairy under Keystone-K.

Locations, Addresses and Kosher Certification
The Weston-branded branch is in Davie, while the Coral Gables-branded branch is in South Miami. Five Florida stores lost Sunshine State Kosher certification in June 2025 and are not included below: Cooper City, Davie on S. University Drive, Coral Springs, Plantation and West Palm Beach.
