EDINBORO, Pa. – IUP women’s soccer is headed back to the PSAC Tournament, entering postseason play as the No. 5 seed in the Western Division and traveling to face No. 4 seed Edinboro at 6 p.m. Saturday at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Crimson Hawks and Fighting Scots split their two regular-season meetings, with each side earning a one-goal victory. Edinboro took the first matchup, 1-0, in the teams’ PSAC opener Aug. 29 before IUP responded with a 2-1 victory on Senior Day in Indiana.

IUP enters the postseason with a 7-6-4 overall record and a 7-6-3 mark in PSAC West play. The Crimson Hawks secured the No. 5 seed following the conclusion of the regular season and will now look to extend their season on the road.

Road victories have been difficult to come by for IUP this season, with the Crimson Hawks earning one win away from home. That victory came in their final road match of the regular season, when IUP earned a 1-0 shutout against California (Pa.).

Edinboro has been strong on its home field, posting a 5-3-2 record across 10 matches at Sox Harrison Stadium. The Fighting Scots enter Saturday unbeaten in their last four home matches.

The familiarity between the two sides adds another element to Saturday’s postseason matchup. Edinboro held IUP scoreless in the first meeting before the Crimson Hawks turned the tables on Senior Day, scoring twice in the opening half and holding on for a 2-1 victory. Avery Clanton scored her first collegiate goal in the win before Ayla Cook added what proved to be the game-winner. Paige Fausey assisted on both IUP goals.

Saturday’s match is win-or-go-home for both teams. The winner will advance to the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals and travel to face PSAC East No. 1 seed Kutztown on Nov. 3.
