A major fire ripped through a trucking facility in Brampton early Friday morning, bringing a large-scale firefighting operation to an industrial area of the city.
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to the property near Ward Road and Sun Pac Boulevard at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 after reports of a fire at the commercial site.
The property includes a truck yard and a building at the rear of the site housing a mechanic shop and truck washing operation. Several workers were reportedly inside the building when the fire broke out, but they managed to get out safely and contact emergency services.
Firefighters faced a significant challenge as flames spread through the facility, forcing crews to adopt a defensive approach rather than attempting to fight the blaze from inside.
Multiple aerial fire trucks were brought in, with firefighters using elevated water streams, deck guns and ground monitors to attack the flames from different positions.
The scale of the response was evident as crews worked to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further through the property.
No injuries have been reported.
Although the fire has been brought under control, firefighters have continued working at the scene to extinguish remaining hotspots and ensure the area is safe.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The incident drew attention to the Ward Road industrial area, near Williams Parkway and Humberwest Parkway, where the trucking operation is located.
The investigation into what sparked the early-morning blaze is expected to provide more information about the circumstances surrounding the fire.
