Toronto Raptors centre Jakob Poeltl was a late scratch for his team’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers with left-shoulder bursitis, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.

Forward Trayce Jackson-Davis took Poeltl’s spot in the starting lineup.

Poeltl, 31, is averaging 4.6 points and 5.8 rebounds through five games this season.

The 7-foot centre has been plagued with injuries the last three seasons, only appearing in 46 games last year due to back problems.

He averaged 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds last season when he was healthy.

Poeltl joins star swingman Kawhi Leonard on the injured list after Leonard was ruled out for multiple weeks with a knee injury.

Toronto is coming off a 121-114 loss to the Orlando Magic on Friday in their first game of the NBA Cup schedule. They have a 3-2 record this season and sat in fifth place in the Eastern Conference entering Sunday’s action.
