Hendrick Motorsports maintained its reputation as NASCAR’s best team at Martinsville Speedway, earning its record 32nd vicotry at the track while inching closer to its 16th Cup Series championship.
William Byron and Chase Elliott made it a 1-2 sweep for Hendrick, and Kyle Larson finished ninth for the team to maintain a 67-point lead in the Chase.
By leading 362 of 500 laps, Byron earned his fourth victory at Martinsville and the 17th of his career. He also ended a 35-race winelss drought that dated to last October’s race at Martinsville, extending his streak to seven consecutive seaons with a win.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver earned his fourth victory at the short track.
Hendrick Motorsports swept the top two spots and is on the verge of clinching its record 16th championship.
