An Edmonton roofing company has been fined for failing to ensure workplace safety nearly three years after a worker fell through a roof and died.

In a news release Monday, provincial officials said that Albatross Roofing Ltd. pleaded guilty in the Edmonton Court of Justice to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for failing to ensure the health and safety of a worker. All other charges were withdrawn.

The company was fined $200,000 including the victim fine surcharge and placed on two years of enhanced regulatory supervision, which requires them to improve health and safety systems or knowledge.
