Police in Toronto have charged a Brampton ride share driver after allegedly trapping a rider in a vehicle during a sex assault.

The incident happened on Oct. 31 around 9:50 p.m. after a woman entered into a ride share vehicle in the Yonge Street and Wellesley Street East area, the Toronto Police Service says.

Investigators say the woman was in the front seat of the vehicle when the driver sex sexually assaulted her. And when the victim tried to leave, the driver allegedly prevented her from exiting the vehicle.

The victim was able to exit the vehicle, but forgot her purse in the car. That’s when police say the driver exited the vehicle and sexually assaulted the victim again.

Police say the driver was identified as a 32-year-old male from Brampton.

Toronto police say Sahib Brar, 32, of Brampton, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement. The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

“A sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact,” police say. “It includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex and penetration.”
