Point Pelee National Park will be closed to the public later this month for 12 days, to carry out its annual deer cull.

The short-term closure will run from Nov. 12 through Nov. 23.

Officials say the cull is done to monitor and control the ecosystem and deer population.

“These efforts are guided by the shared goals of ecological balance and supporting food sustainability for Caldwell First Nation,” Parks Canada said in a Monday statement.

Caldwell and Parks Canada have been working together around the deer population since 2015.
