Peel Regional Police are actively investigating a deliberate arson incident at 920 Inverhouse Apartments, located near Lakeshore and Southdown roads in Mississauga. Two fires were intentionally set on September 20 and 21, targeting a specific unit on the third floor. The fires resulted in a large-scale evacuation, affecting numerous residents and causing around $1 million in damages. Eighteen people were treated for smoke inhalation, though fortunately, no severe injuries were reported.
Authorities have arrested two individuals, Joshua Pedersen, 28, from Hamilton, and Morgan Murphy, 27, from Burlington. Pedersen faces six charges, including arson with disregard for human life, while Murphy faces four similar charges. Police are still searching for a third suspect, 30-year-old Madison Varga, who has no fixed address. Residents and anyone with information are urged to contact Peel police as the investigation continues.
