The swimming pool at Churchill Meadows Community Centre in Mississauga’s west end will reopen to regular programming this weekend after emergency repairs were completed, the city says.
The indoor aquatic facility at the $51-million state-of-the-art community centre was closed to the public at the end of the summer after it “experienced an unexpected leak with the sprinkler system that required emergency repairs,” City of Mississauga officials said in an update to the community.
The city said earlier this week the 25-metre, six-lane pool and therapeutic pool are now open once again.
Drop-in swimming resumed this past Monday while regular registered programming is scheduled to resume this Saturday.
Following the closure of the pool, aquatic programming was either cancelled or re-located to surrounding community centres.
“We recognize that this caused inconvenience for users and residents and extra pressure on facilities and staff,” the city said in its update to the community this week. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as staff worked to quickly address this unforeseen incident.”
The relatively new 75,000-sq.-ft. community centre, which also includes among many other amenities a triple gym, multipurpose room with a teaching kitchen and an active living studio, opened in late 2021.
It’s part of a huge 57-acre complex on Ninth Line just north of Erin Centre Blvd. that also includes Mattamy Sports Park.
The year-round sports park is designed for all ages and abilities and offers a variety of recreational and leisure activities.

The sports complex was initially outfitted with amenities including basketball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, a playground, skateboard area, lit sports field, spray pad and a leash-free dog park.
As part of phase two in the development of Mattamy Sports Park, a new domed tennis and pickleball facility that offers year-round play opened in November 2024.
That was followed by this past spring’s introduction of a new cricket pitch, multi-purpose field and nearby multi-use trail.
Mattamy Sports Park, named in June 2022, spreads out over 57 acres and first opened in October 2021 as part of Churchill Meadows Community Centre.
