Everything remains on track for what managers call the greatest transformation the province’s health care system will have ever seen.
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is launching CorCare in the spring to modernize health care by replacing outdated digital health systems with one province-wide information system.
NLHS says the new system will enable the collection, management, storage and transmission of electronic medical records including patient charts.
Scott Bishop, a vice-president at the authority, says the new technology will reduce the rate of error, strengthen security, increase access to information and optimize patient care delivery. It will also reduce administrative burden on medical staff.
Bishop says there are a lot of tools for the patient, who will have full access to their chart. The system also allows interconnection among systems.
