Catching up on some other action on the grounds, world No. 15 Andrey Rublev dismissed Croatian Dino Prižmić with a straight-set win (6-4, 6-4, 6-4).

Meanwhile, World No. 9 Karen Khachanov shook off a nervy start against underdog American Nishesh Basavareddy. The Newport Beach, Calif. native briefly gained the upper hand by winning a first-set tiebreak and played well throughout.

But Khachanov was just too clinical in the end, winning 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-5, 6-1.
