Vancouver baseball fans didn’t just get peanuts and Cracker Jack at Saturday night’s Canadians game; they got a full-on Hollywood throwback.
Actors Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck, best known for their iconic roles as Ferris Bueller and Cameron Frye in the 1986 teen classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, showed up at Nat Bailey Stadium and took over the 7th-inning stretch.
The duo led the crowd in a hearty singalong of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” a moment that felt like a mix of ballpark tradition and movie magic.
Videos of the pair quickly spread across social media, with fans and broadcasters alike marvelling at the sight of Ferris and Cameron reunited in such an unlikely place.
“Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck hit it out of the park with tonight’s 7th-inning stretch,” the Canadians wrote in a post, thanking Lionsgate for making the cameo happen.
The appearance wasn’t just for fun; it was also part of the promotion for their upcoming Lionsgate movie, The Best Is Yet to Come.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, While You Were Sleeping) and written by Allan Loeb, the film follows two lifelong friends who set off on a bucket-list road trip after a huge misunderstanding.
Along the way, they rush to repair family relationships and embrace life while they still can.
Rob Fai, longtime local sports broadcaster, summed it up best in his viral clip, “Never know who’ll show up to a @vancanadians game! Ferris Bueller throwback with BOTH Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck.”

For fans who grew up quoting “Bueller?… Bueller?” and watching Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari crash through that glass garage, the unexpected singalong at The Nat was one for the books.
