Sachin Tendulkar was controversially given out several times by the West Indies and the ICC umpire Steve Bucknor, who was slammed by the Indian players for the way he officiated against the sub-continent team.

Sachin was recently involved in a ‘Ask Me Anything’ session with his fans on Reddit.

One of his supporters asked him about Steve Bucknor. “When I am batting, give him boxing gloves to wear (so he can’t raise his finger),” Sachin wrote.

He was also asked whether he played a false shot to disturb the rhythm of a bowler. “Yes, only many occasions I have played risky shots to break the bowler’s rhythm. The one that comes to my mind is against McGrath in Nairobi in 2000.”

Sachin was referring to the IND vs AUS quarter-final match in the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy. He scored 38 runs off 37 balls and smashed three sixes and two fours against McGrath.

India won the contest by 20 runs, with debutant Yuvraj Singh amassing 84 runs off 80 balls.

Meanwhile, Tendulkar praised Joe Root for crossing the 13,000-run mark in Test cricket.
